114  Children must maintain a sitting position while the swing is in motion. No jumping from swings.  There should be only two children per swing.  Peers should not play near swings when they are in motion.  Report defects to an administrator immediately. Suggestions for Playground Supervisors  Everyone connected with the school (teachers, aides, visitors, recreation leaders, etc.) should follow the same safety rules.  Grade level meetings on playground guidelines and safety are extremely beneficial. These should be scheduled on a periodic basis to review playground rules.  Walk the class through a safety course on the playground the first day of the school year.  Remember; the best safety policy is good supervision and instruction, as well as constant review of playground guidelines and rules. PLAYGROUND RULES 1. All students must wear appropriate clothing. No hanging strings or hoods on outerwear. 2. Shoes must be close-toed and laces securely tied. 3. Running in clear green areas on the playground is encouraged 4. No running on the playground in the areas of the playground equipment or on hard surfaces. (sidewalks) 5. No food or drinks while engaged in play on the playgrounds. 6. No pushing or shoving during play time. 7. No pencils or pens on the playground during play time. (NO Sharp Items) CRYSTAL CLIMBER GUIDELINES AND RULES FOR CLIMBING You can participate in Crystal Climber climbing if:  You are in 3 rd – 5 th Grades  You are wearing sneakers with laces securely tied  You remove any clothing containing hoods, drawstrings, straps or any other clothing that may become tangled on the equipment  You can independently climb on and off of the Crystal Climber Crystal Climber Rules:  A staff member must be present at all times at the Crystal Climber  Students will form a line as they wait for their time on the Crystal Climber  Staff will advise students when it is clear to begin climbing  Students will climb up one side, and down the other  Students will adhere to the time limit given  Maximum of 3 students on the Crystal Climber at any time  No jumping off of the Crystal Climber  No climbing on the Crystal Climber if the structure is wet (Compiled April 2014 by Robin Mendelson)
