NSU CENTER FOR COLLABORATIVE RESEARCH 31 NSU RESEARCH INSTITUTES AND CENTERS To efficiently address key issues facing humanity, NSU has established several research institutes and centers using a multidisciplinary, interprofessional approach. These currently include • AutoNation Institute for Breast Cancer Research and Care • Cell Therapy Institute (a partnership with researchers from Karolinska Institutet in Sweden) • Emil Buehler Research Center for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics • Institute for Natural and Ocean Sciences Research • Institute for Neuro-Immune Medicine • Rumbaugh-Goodwin Institute for Cancer Research VIVARIUM The state-of-the-art Vivarium Core is outfitted with Tecniplast Green Line IVC cages. Each room is equipped with temperature, humidity, and light controls. In addition, all holding rooms have VHP ports to maintain an SPF environment. The Vivarium contains two separate holding areas: a barrier suite and a non- barrier suite. NSU’s animal care and use program is accredited by the Association for Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care (AAALAC). CELL THERAPY CORE The Cell Therapy Core provides expertise in processing of cells from primary tissues, expansion and differentiation of cells including immune and stem cells, genetic modification of cells by viral vectors, and development of cell-based therapy products, among other services. The main aim of the Cell Therapy Core is to support research by providing GLP-quality laboratory space, various well-established SOP-driven processes and technical/ lab support by experienced staff assistants. We ensure a high quality research environment by providing a HEPA filter particle controlled GLP-quality cell and tissue processing laboratory.
