College of Psychology Campaign Priorities

“Since enrolling at NSU, I have had the opportunity to grow and develop both personally and professionally while pursing my Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology. I attribute much of my growth and development to the significant support and guidance received from the distinguished faculty within the College of Psychology and the incredible classmates and peers I have had the honor of learning from and being challenged by over the past two years. The open-door policy of the staff has created a comfortable and inviting environment for students seeking mentorship. I am encouraged by the strong relationships I have built with the faculty and the diverse student body, and am confident the friendships I have made will grow into professional relationships as future colleagues that I can always count on and share a common bond with: NSU.” —Christopher E. Fisher, M.S. Psychology Trainee When Carmen De Jesus enrolled at NSU, she brought to the classroom her six years of experience in the U.S. Air Force including two tours of duty in Afghanistan and flight missions across the Middle East. She had lost friends killed in combat, and she had seen other veterans suffer the effects of brain injuries and post-traumatic stress disorder. “NSU has been a tremendous influence in my life. When I left the military, I didn’t imagine that I would be pursuing a career in clinical medicine. I never would have thought that I would have done the research that I did, or that I would know as much as I do about neuroscience. This is a direct result of the passion and investment that my professors give to their students. They are invested in their students, and I am eternally grateful.” —Carmen De Jesus Class of 2016 B.S. in Behavioral Neuroscience Program COLLEGE OF PSYCHOLOGY VOICES Recalling her training at NSU, Wendy Lader said the doctoral program was extremely focused on the statistical skills needed for research. “This focus gave me the ability to think critically and to analyze the research available. I wish I had paid even more attention as I now realize how invaluable research is to our understanding of the work we do.” —Wendy Lader, M.S., Ph.D. Class of 1984 2015 Distinguished Alumni Achievement Award Recipient Co-founder | S.A.F.E.
