College of Optometry Campaign Priorities

OUR LABS | $600,000 Technology has changed the way that eye care is delivered in the United States. In order to stay on the cutting edge of these advances, we will create a Clinical Examination and Simulation (CES) laboratory. This lab will ensure that our students provide the highest quality care to their patients in the future. Simulation technology provides students with opportunities to learn and hone their clinical skills prior to providing direct patient care. Opportunities include: • Redesign the CES laboratory • Establish a simulation lab for optometry • Create mock examination rooms for clinical training OUR STUDENTS | $400,000 To attract the best students to NSU’s College of Optometry, we will launch innovative learning opportunities. Goal-based scholarships that lead to new research and/or career development opportunities will be created. To foster a culture of innovation, we will pair scholarship recipients with faculty mentors to guide them in the areas of research such as low vision, vision therapy, and contact lenses. Concurrent degree opportunities—O.D./M.P.H., O.D./M.B.A., O.D./M.S.C.V.R.—will help our students meet the changing needs of the health care system. Opportunities include: • Scholarships for outstanding applicants • Research grants to students and faculty mentors • Scholarships to students pursuing concurrent degree programs OUR CLINICS | $3 MILLION Serving the eye and vision care needs of the South Florida community is one of our cornerstones. By relocating our Broward clinic to a new, more easiy accessible, state-of- the-art facilty in downtown Fort Lauderdale, we can reach a population that has little or no access to care. The clinic will also be available for visitors to the area. The impact on our community and student learning will be invaluable. Low vision services, pediatric eye care, primary care, ocular disease, and contact lens care will all be provided to this underserved population, while we train our students to be compassionate health care providers. Opportunities include: • Redesign downtown NSU College of Optometry clinic • Establish the facility as a clinic for underserved populationss • Provide funding to offset care delivery costs To express our gratitude for your extraordinary commitment to NSU, we offer a variety of naming, recognition, and dedication opportunities to support your unique philanthropic passions and goals. Opportunities can be designed and tailored to reflect the intention and level of your gift. NAMING OPPORTUNITIES
