College of Dental Medicine Campaign Priorities

OUR CLINICS | $17 MILLION At NSU's College of Dental Medicine, clinical rotations and experiential service learning opportunities build our students' clinical skills. Our goal is to advance the work of the college with state of the science clinical facilities that represent an extraordinary community resource for families throughout the state and beyond. Our emphasis is on caring for underserved populations and special needs children and adults, such as patients with autism, cleft lip/palate, HIV, or other medical conditions. NSU will further pilot fully integrated health care delivery models that include and improve oral health as part of overall health care. Opportunities include: • Redesign NSU’s Fort Lauderdale dental clinic • Establish a geriatric clinical care center • Strengthen the special needs clinical programs OUR FACULTY | $5 MILLION Building on an 18-year tradition of innovation in curriculum and clinical practice, NSU College of Dental Medicine will assume a leadership role in the emerging area of inter-professional health care delivery. The college will foster a culture of innovation that extends to ongoing pioneering work in dental public health and policy, clinical trials, and basic and translational research, with particular focus on adult stem cell bone and teeth regeneration. Opportunities include: • Faculty professional development program • Endowed professorships in inter-professional education and research, hospital dentistry, and special needs education and research • Translational dental research OUR STUDENTS | $3 MILLION By continuing to develop innovative curriculum and degree programs, such as the D.O./ D.M.D., D.M.D./M.P.H., D.M.D./M.B.A., that meet society’s needs to increase access to oral health services, NSU will be able to attract more highly motivated graduate dental students. The college also aims to continue providing students with unmatched clinical practice experiences by caring for patients in the largest clinical dental facility in South Florida.
