College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences Campaign Priorities

“During and subsequent to my enrollment in the Department of Conflict Analysis and Resolution, I had the opportunity to have as my professors some of the most fascinating social intellects imaginable,’’ said Imani Michelle Scott. Scott adds that her NSU professors helped in her understanding and application of wide-ranging historical and contemporary theoretical premises of conflict. While attending NSU, her research and writing was published on numerous topics, including the consequences of racism in the U.S., police violence, school violence, and road rage. —Imani Michelle Scott, Ph.D. Class of 2004 2001 Student of the Year | College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences Professor | Savannah College of Art and Design “NSU’s legal studies program helped me prepare for law school. While many students were trying to figure out how to do legal research, I was well prepared and knew the different types of materials, thanks to my Legal Research course as an undergraduate. I also felt that the professors really prepared me for the higher level of analysis that law school professors are seeking. The faculty and staff at NSU always go the extra mile and genuinely want you to succeed.” —John Paul, J.D. The skills I gained are not part of a typical classroom experience but they are essential for any career path. I was lucky to be surrounded by outstanding students and faculty who supported and inspired me to achieve more. I never imagined myself as a business owner, but now I feel right at home. I believe the faculty, staff, and study body at NSU were essential in leading me to where I am today. My success is a testament to the skills I gained at NSU—they are applicable to so many disciplines and pursuits. I am confident that no matter what my future holds I’ll navigate it successfully, and I’ll always have support from my NSU family.” —Lauren Butler, M.F.A.
