About Our Program How Does One Become a Patient? The Psychological Services for the Emotionally Distressed Program serves individuals ranging in age from 14 to adulthood who exhibit some manifestation of a thought or mood disorder and demonstrate serious emotional disturbance consistent with a diagnosis of any major affective or psychotic disorder. Individuals may exhibit symptoms such as depression, mania, hallucinations, delusions, poor social development, interpersonal difficulties, lack of self care, social isolation or withdrawal, peculiar behavior, or odd beliefs. Clinical Services The Psychological Services for the Emotionally Distressed Program provides treatment to adults and older adolescents with serious emotional disturbance. The type of services offered include n individual psychotherapy n family therapy n marital therapy n psychological testing (as needed, to inform treatment) The main therapeutic approach used in this program is based on psychodynamic principles and can be described as collaborative, insight-oriented, intensive, long-term talk therapy. However, in order to meet the individual needs of our clients, an integrative approach to therapy is used overall. Therapy focuses on exploring the past and present in order to create a more satisfying and adaptive future for our clients. If our program is not a good fit for you, we can direct you to a more appropriate program. Services Provided Program Director/Supervisor Providers render all services under the close supervision of Jennifer Davidtz, Ph.D., a licensed clinical psychologist. She has extensive experience as a clinical practitioner, supervisor, consultant, educator, and researcher.
