PRESIDENT’S REPORT 2020 underrepresented students. NSU also received $7.75 million in formula funding from the U.S. Department of Education from the CARES Act Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund. Our preeminence as a higher education institution continues to be reflected in our recognition among other universities nationwide. NSU recently leaped 19 spots and is now ranked 227 by U.S. News & World Report and 115 out of private universities nationally. During fiscal 2020, QS, a global higher education research company and publisher of the QS World University Rankings , reviewed more than 750 colleges and universities nationally, naming 300 institutions as the best four- year universities in the U.S. NSU was ranked within the top 160, placing it in the top third of the ranked universities. NSU was also ranked 51st in the Times Higher Education (THE) Golden Age University Rankings 2020, acknowledged as the highest new entry for the international rankings, which included 308 universities from around the world. The performance indicators used to rank universities are grouped into five areas: Teaching, Research, Citations, International outlook; and Industry income (knowledge transfer). In fact, NSU was listed as one of the “Nation’s Top Universities” that local high school students were accepted to in a September 2020 article. Beyond all of the accolades and accomplishments, it is the support, contributions, and dedication of our extended Shark community that has made NSU the envy of many higher education institutions.
