NSU President's Report | 2020

PANDEMIC ASIDE, NSU CONTINUES TOMAKE STRIDES NSU’s dedication to resilience and research has remained unfettered as we’ve developed innovative alternatives during the COVID-19 pandemic to enhance the education of our students. While several top universities across the country have suffered spikes in the virus—at times necessitating that they revert to a total online education model—NSU has led the way in bringing students back to campus through its commitment to best health and safety practices. NSU has made significant investments in upgrading technology and preparing our campuses for the safest possible return to a new normal. Some higher education institutions have, understandably, seen setbacks due to the pandemic. We chose to also see it as an opportunity to show our resolve to offer exemplary educational opportunities on multiple platforms courtesy of a well- coordinated strategy for success—BlendFlex, where students are given their choice to either attend class face-to-face with a mask and physical separation, or remotely with the same professor at the same time—for all students, regardless of venue. Everyone at all campuses must wear a face covering, and we are limiting capacity in classrooms, work environments and clinics to prevent community spread, with many employees working remotely with great success.
