Pi Theta Epsilon Beta Delta -Tampa Page 5 OTD News, Volume VI, Issue 1 By: Jonathan Pitts, OTD-S The newest members of Pi Theta Epsilon’s Beta Delta Tampa Chapter were inducted on November 19, 2015, in Tampa Florida during Nova Southeastern University’s Fall Ceremonies. Ten students from the class of 2017 were chosen to become members of Pi Theta Epsilon, an occupational therapy honor society that focuses on leadership and scholarly contributions to the field. The inductees professed their continuing commitment to further the knowledge base and academic acumen of occupational therapy. As they walked across the stage to receive their yellow rose and obtain their certificate, the students reflected about the new mantel of responsibility they have now been charged to uphold. Faced with this new charge, the 10 students walked forth with a new dimension of thinking, a new appreciation for what they had accomplished, and hope for what they will yet accomplish. The first Pi Theta Epsilon Beta Delta Tampa event for the New Year will be an event titled: Evening with a Scholar. The members of Pi Theta Epsilon Beta Delta Tampa are currently working toward identifying and inviting the inaugural speaker. The chosen scholar will present on a relevant topic of importance to occupational therapy. Students and faculty of the Tampa Campus will be able to attend and ask questions of the speaker. This event will benefit those who attend by providing a current and relevant example of occupational therapy scholarship and impart new knowledge on where occupational therapy is headed.
