Lauderdale this past August. We are ex- tremely proud of their accomplishments as they advance towards completion of their entry- level OTD degree. Currently, PTE is preparing to invite and induct new members this fall. We anticipate a significant growth in membership over the next year. As the society grows, PTE plans to pro- vide upcoming opportunities for scholarship through events such as a potential PTE Lecture Series to encourage the advancement of occupational therapy. Since the last OTD News issue, PTE has conducted various events, which include the fol- lowing: a Backpack Awareness Day and a Mock Kinesiology Practical. The Backpack Aware- ness Day provided education on the health effects relating to heavy and improperly worn back- packs, while the Mock Kinesiology Practical provided peer support and preparation to stu- dents from the class of 2018. Events such as these are important for PTE, as they provide a means of outreach to the community and student body. It has been nearly one year since PTE has established itself at the NSU entry-level OTD program. And within this time, through active involvement and participation amongst mem- bers, the society has worked diligently to encourage superior scholarship amongst the entry- level OTD students.
