COLLEGE OF OPTOMETRY • 31 Janet L. Leasher , O.D., M.P.H., FAAO, director of community outreach, was recently promoted to the rank of full professor. In addition, she coauthored two articles: “Global Visual Impairment Due to Uncorrected Refractive Error: 1990–2010” in Optometry and Vision Science and “Global, Regional, and National Burden of Diseases and Injuries Among Children and Adolescents Between 1990 and 2013: Findings from the Global Burden of Disease 2013 Study” in JAMA Pediatrics . Sherrol A. Reynolds , O.D., FAAO, associate professor, had her article, “Are You Clear on Your Macular Function Screening Responsibili- ties? How the Latest Technologies Can Change How You Practice,” published in Review of Optometry . Lori Vollmer , O.D., FAAO, associate professor and director of residencies, had her article, “No Insult to Injury: Treating Corn- eal Trauma,” published in Review of Optometry . Josephine A. Shallo- Hoffmann , Ph.D., FAAO, professor and associate dean for academic affairs, toured India and provided lectures to faculty members and students at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences. Her lectures included, “Fixation Eye Movements” and “Ocular Oscillations Associated with Disorders and Disease.” Diana Shechtman , O.D., FAAO, professor, was named a visionary by Vision Expo for being an inspirational professor. “I love teaching, and I feel lucky to be able to share my passion with others,” she said. “It is humbling to know that perhaps I have a small influence on the future of our profession.” Joseph Sowka , O.D., FAAO, professor, along with former faculty member Alan Kabat, O.D., had an article, “Stye vs. Stye: Tips on Managing Both External and Internal Hordeola,” published in Review of Optometry .
