COLLEGE OF OPTOMETRY • 27 Meghann Hamidiani , O.D. (’14), received the inaugural Red Eye Award for best resident lecture on May 2 at the North Carolina Chapter of the American Academy of Optometry Third Annual Roger Cummings Resident Symposium. Sarah Harbove , O.D. (’11), authored an article, “Engage with Patients in the Practice and Beyond,” that was featured in the Women in Optometry Growth Strategies section of the Review of Optometry website. Dedra Ling , O.D. (’09), was featured in the Key West Chamber of Commerce magazine. Ling’s business, Key West Optical, was the highlighted business in July. Amanda Nanasy , O.D. (’10), recently partnered with current NSUCO students to conduct vision screenings for current NSU athletes. In addition, Nanasy was featured on WPLG Local 10 News in May in a segment titled “Non-Invasive Procedure Gives Detailed View of Retina.” W. Patrick Parks , O.D. (’99), and his partners at Wylie Eye Center in Texas had their practice named Business of the Year by the Wylie Chamber of Commerce. Judy Nguyen Thunnissen , O.D. (’10), who owns Bella Eye Care Optometry in Newark, California, had her practice voted Best Optometry Office by the Best of Newark. Parres Mone Wright , O.D. (’07), and Takeia Locke , O.D. (’07), were featured speakers at the 2015 Nation- al Optometric Association Convention on July 9. Cathy Yaeckel , O.D. (’10), was featured in an article in the Tampa Tribune for opening a new optical cen- ter in Mira Bay Village called Optical Outfitters.
