The Broward County Op- tometric Association Board of Directors features a number of our alumni: Ivana Obradovic , O.D. (’10); Lori Vollmer , O.D. (’02); Nate Schramm , O.D. (’08); Brandon Cornish , O.D. (’07); Jaime Balaguer , O.D. (’04); Besty Jacob , O.D. (’13); Smith Blanc , O.D. (’09); and Brianna Rhue , O.D. (’09). Faculty member Leon Nehmad, O.D., also serves as a Broward County Optometric Association Board of Directors member. Miriam Bach , O.D. (’14), welcomed her son, Tzvi Yehuda, to the world on February 15. Smith Blanc , O.D. (’09), was named Young Optometrist of the Year at the 2015 Florida Optometric Association Annual Convention held July 16–19 at The Breakers in Palm Beach. He was recognized for his service to humanity, which included 10 international medical outreach trips, and his service to the profession for his work with the Broward County Optometric Association. Jocelyn Cercone , O.D. (’12), had her article, “Ocular Manifestations of Migraines,” published in the June issue of Optometry & Visual Performance . Jeff Cohen , O.D. (’09), who works at Luke Air Force Base in Arizona, was promoted to the rank of major in the U.S. Air Force Reserves. Justin Coleman , O.D. (’13), was among a panel of optometrists quoted in the article, “Millennial ECPs IRL,” in Vision Monday . JeanMarie Davis , O.D., FAAO (’01), had her article, “Maximize Your Contact Lens Success,” featured in the Women in Optometry Growth Strategies section of the Review of Optometry website. Giannie Castellanos de Cardenas , O.D. (’09), and her husband David de Cardenas welcomed Arsen David de Cardenas into the world on March 31. Class Specs Arsen David de Cardenas was born on March 31. Proud mom is Giannie Castellanos de Cardenas.
