College of Optometry - The Visionary Fall 2015

COLLEGE OF OPTOMETRY • 21 During a combined 43-year career as esteemed NSU College of Optometry faculty members, the husband- and-wife duo of Heidi Wagner, O.D., M.P.H., FAAO, and Christopher Woodruff, O.D., M.B.A., FAAO, played an integral role in leading the college to enhanced levels of achievement. On June 1, Wagner and Woodruff, who have been married since 1986, finalized their NSUCO legacy when they retired from the college to accept posi- tions at their alma mater—The Ohio State University (OSU) College of Optometry. In their new roles at OSU, Wagner will serve as professor of clinical optom- etry and externship director, while Woodruff will act as professor of clinical optometry and the instructor of record for ophthalmic optics, as well as assist with developing and implementing educational technology. When they began dating in 1984 as students in the same graduating class at OSU’s College of Optome- try, there was no way Wagner and Woodruff could have predicted their professional journey would even- tually lead them to NSU’s College of Optometry.
