Patel College of Osteopathic Medicine, was named vice president of quality and compliance at Nanoscope Therapeutics Inc.—a biotechnology company committed to restoring vision in blind patients in real-world settings in Dallas, Texas. Hasina Echoles, M.S. SLP (’18), was elected president of the Florida Association of Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists for 2024– 2025. She was also invited to be part of the fellows program at the Tory Burch Foundation in 2024 for her excellence as a woman entrepreneur. Nancy Gauvin, M.S. SLP (’02), won the Community Engaged Scholarship Forum Collaboration Champion Award, which was presented by the University of Pittsburgh community for significant contributions to a culture of collaboration and teamwork. Kelly Moseley, D.H.Sc., M.S.N., R.N., CNE (’11), was named regional dean of the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Nursing (TTUHSC) in the Permian Basin. She began working at the TTUHSC School of Nursing in August 2008 as the retention counselor for the accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing program. FARQUHAR HONORS COLLEGE Shannon Aldridge, B.S. (’15), who received her B.S. in Marine Biology from the Halmos College of Arts and Sciences, published scientific research in the Journal of Fish Biology and Fishes journal. Yineth Sanchez Aslan, J.D. (’13), who received her B.S. in Legal Studies and B.A. in Philosophy from the Halmos College of Arts and Sciences, was elected without opposition to The Florida Bar Young Lawyers Division Board of Governors, representing the 17th Judicial Circuit, Seat 2. Diana Castejon-Morales, B.S. (’11), who received her B.S. in Sport and Recreation Management from the H. Lloyd Beach State Park in Dania Beach, Florida. Additionally, the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching awarded NSU the Community Engagement Classification, which acknowledges significant commitment to, and demonstration of, community engagement. 2011 NSU was elevated from Doctoral Research University to Research University—High Research Activity, reflecting two of NSU’s core values: scholarship and research. 2012 The Oceanographic Center used a $15-million federal stimulus grant to open the nation’s largest dedicated coral reef research center— the NSU Center of Excellence for Coral Reef Ecosystems Research. The completed center cost $50 million and serves as a global hub for learning from the ocean’s diverse ecosystem of coral reefs and myriad fish and other marine life. 85
