ONE NSU MAGAZINE CLASS NOTES COLLEGE OF DENTAL MEDICINE Ahmad Ahmadi, D.M.D. (’03), was named director of NSU’s Master of Dental Science Certificate program. Ana Lorena Armenteros, D.M.D. (’22), joined Super Smiles Kids Dental and Orthodontics as a pediatric dentist in 2024. Andrew Malozsak, D.M.D., M.S. (’21), completed his orthodontics residency at the University of Colorado in 2024. After earning his American Board of Orthodontics certification, he returned to Florida later that year to join the Super Smiles Kids Dental and Orthodontics team. Joel Slingbaum, D.M.D. (’00), was named assistant dean of education, technology, and innovations at NSU’s College of Dental Medicine in January. Additionally, he became a certified Apple teacher and director of the college’s Apple Digital Initiative. Slingbaum also became an assistant robotics coach at NSU Uni- versity School in 2024. COLLEGE OF OPTOMETRY Smith Blanc, O.D. (’09), was appointed as a trustee of the Florida Optometric Association, where he is contributing to the organization’s mission of advocating for the profession and enhancing patient care. Denise Burns-LeGros, O.D., FAAO (’05), was appointed to the Florida Board of Optometry, where she will help shape the future of the profession in the state. Michelle Levin, O.D. (’11), received the 2024 Florida Optometrist of the Year Award in recognition of her outstanding contributions to the field of optometry. Shalonda McCallum, O.D., M.B.A. (’15), was elected president of the Broward County Optometric Association, where she is leading initiatives to support and advance the local optometric community. Sherrol Reynolds, O.D. (’96), was inducted as a distinguished fellow into the National Academies of Practice to honor her dedication and impact within the profession. Steven Silverstone, O.D. (’94), was inducted as president of the Florida Optometric Association, where he will lead initiatives to advance the profession and support optometrists across the state. Bryan A. Stam, O.D. (’00), was appointed to the Florida Board of Optometry. COLLEGE OF PSYCHOLOGY Alison Datoc, Ph.D. (’22), a clinical psychology graduate, established the Concussion Clinic at Horizon Neuropsychological Services to assess, diagnose, and treat individuals of all ages with concussions. The Florida School of Professional Psychology merged into Nova University. 1983 A 90-unit dormitory opened on the Fort Lauderdale/Davie Campus. The Ralph J. Baudhuin Oral School was acquired as a part of the Family Center. 1984 The Academic Center for Computer-Based Learning was established. 1985 The university revolutionized distance education with the development and implementation of the electronic classroom for delivery of online courses.
