(’10), was awarded the HCA Florida Westside Hospital Division President’s Award of Leadership Excellence. Osmel (Ozzie) Delgado, Pharm.D. (’02), was appointed chief executive officer of the Florida International University HealthCare Network (FIU Health) and associate dean of clinical affairs at the Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine. In this role, he will oversee FIU Health’s clinical operations to ensure compliance with quality, risk, and regulatory standards. Sandra DiScala, Pharm.D. (’07), was awarded the Society of Pain and Palliative Care Pharmacists Foundation’s Fudin Award for Pain and Palliative Care Mentorship, which was established in 2022 to recognize mid- to late-career clinicians who have exemplified themselves as educators and mentors to students, trainees, or early-career clinicians. Angela Garcia, Pharm.D. (’08), received the 2025 Bowl of Hygeia Award at the American Pharmacists Association annual meeting in Nashville, Tennessee. The recipients are selected by their respective associations for their outstanding record of community service. The Bowl of Hygeia Award is sponsored by the American Pharmacists Association Foundation and the National Alliance of State Pharmacy Associations. Jorge Garcia, Pharm.D. (’10), received the Florida Society of Clinical Oncology’s Dorothy Green Phillips Legacy Award. Alicia Harvey, Pharm.D. (’13) received the 2024 U.S. Excellence Award from Alexion Pharmaceuticals, Inc. Aneesh Lakhani, Pharm.D. (’04), is president-elect of the Florida Pharmacy Association and will become its president in July 2025. Tenim Novoa, Pharm.D. (’13), was elected as the Florida Pharmacy Association’s Region 9 director. Dorinda Segovia, Pharm.D. (’92), was appointed vice chair of the Florida Board of Pharmacy. Yenia Silva, Pharm.D. (’10), M.B.A., CSP, CPH, received the Memorial Healthcare System Leadership Impact Award. COLLEGE OF COMPUTING AND ENGINEERING Brian Bisceglia, Ph.D. (’24), who received his doctorate in cybersecurity management, is serving as a police officer in Worcester, Massachusetts. He is the first Worcester police officer to earn a Ph.D. degree. Laurie J. Patterson, Ed.D., M.Ed. (’05), who earned her Doctor of Education in Computer Information Technology from the college, was named associate dean of academic affairs and curriculum at the College of Science and Engineering at the University of North Carolina—Wilmington. CLASS NOTES 1973 The Center for Public Affairs and Administration was established, and the Graduate Management Program was implemented. 1974 The Center for the Study of Law was established. 1976 Nova College was established at the Fort Lauderdale/Davie Campus. 1977 The first class of the Center for the Study of Law graduated. 1978 Doctoral programs in business administration began within the Graduate Management Program. 1979 The Institute for Marine and Coastal Studies opened at the Oceanographic Center. 78
