PHARMACY COLLEGE NAMED FOR BARRY AND JUDY SILVERMAN NSU renamed its College of Pharmacy the Barry and Judy Silverman College of Pharmacy. More than 300 attendees turned out for the unveiling of the college signage, including university administrators, Board of Trustees members, and a host of students and faculty and staff members. Barry J. Silverman, M.D., NSU Board of Trustees vice chair, and his wife made a transformational gift to the university, with the goal of enhancing the growth and continued impact of NSU’s pharmacy program not only at the university’s Fort Lauderdale/ Davie Campus, but also at its Palm Beach and San Juan, Puerto Rico, campuses. Friends of the H. Wayne Huizenga College of Business and Entrepreneurship celebrated the opening of the Jerry Taylor and Nancy Bryant Trading Floor. Located on the second floor of the Carl DeSantis Building, the trading floor supports students’ work with the Student-Managed Investment Fund. It features a conference room for meetings to discuss the current market conditions, portfolio positions, and potential portfolio investments as they relate to the success of the Student-Managed Investment Fund. It also includes a classroom/lab with 30 student stations and a streaming, real-time, LED stock ticker to keep students informed of market shifts. The facility was made possible by a $5-million donation from Jerry Taylor and Nancy Bryant, half of which funded construction, while the remainder established an endowment to support student activities and investment classes.
