ADMISSIONS REQUIREMENTS Start Date: August Length: Three years of coursework, plus a dissertation Degree: Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) NSU’s Ph.D. degree is based on an interprofessional approach to education. The univer- sity’s Health Professions Division provides courses that are offered in an interdisciplinary format with the colleges of Nursing and Pharmacy and the departments of Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Health Science. The Ph.D. in Nursing, focusing on Nursing Education, courses are predominantly online. There is a mandatory, on-campus, new- student orientation and the annual, on-campus Summer Institute. If applicants do not have a master’s degree in nursing, and their master’s degree is in a related field, they must have a B.S.N. degree.) 2. a minimum master’s degree GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale 3. an unencumbered, active, United States R.N. license (must remain current in the jurisdiction of the practicum throughout the program) 4. two reference letters/forms from individuals other than relatives 5. a writing sample submitted directly to NursingCAS, using APA 7th edition formatting (including headings for each section), that includes the following information: • discussion of a problem or issue you see in your professional practice today that needs to be addressed from a Ph.D. perspective (250 words minimum) • discussion of your personal and professional goals related to the Ph.D. (250 words minimum) 6. a résumé or curriculum vitae
