18 | Graduate Nursing M.S.N. A.P.R.N. ADMISSIONS REQUIREMENTS Start Dates: January and August* Length: Eight terms of full-time study Degree: M.S.N. Advanced Practice Registered Nurse CONCENTRATIONS • Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) • Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP) • Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) Admission to NSU’s M.S.N. A.P.R.N. program requires 1. a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) or Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree from a regionally accredited college or university (The nursing degree must be accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing [ACEN], by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education [CCNE], or by the Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation [CNEA].)* 2. a minimum overall cumulative GPA of 2.75 on a 4.0 scale in the candidate’s Bachelors of Science in Nursing • For students with a B.S. or B.A. in a field other than nursing, an overall GPA of 3.0 and satisfactory completion of NSG 5000B, only offered during the fall term, is required. • For students with 24 months or more of active, independent clinical practice (not including position residencies or facility operations), an overall GPA of 2.75 is required. 3. a current, active, unencumbered, state of Florida R.N. license (The license must remain active, without discipline, throughout the program.) 4. 12 months of active, independent, clinical practice, not including position residences or facility orientations 5. a résumé or curriculum vitae Students must live within 150 miles of the program campus. For applicants interested in the AGACNP concentration, a current advanced cardiovascular life support (ACLS) certificate is required. *Students who enter the M.S.N. program without a B.S.N. will only be allowed to enter the program in August. They will be required to enroll in NSG 5000B Transition to Advanced Nursing Practice in the first semester of admission to the M.S.N. program. ✔ TIP Applicants for NSU’s M.S.N.
