The National Coral Reef Institute

NCRI’s ongoing work and accomplishments include projects in coral reef monitoring, restoration, and assessment. Coral Reef Monitoring NCRI focuses attention in providing assistance to local, federal, and international partners to conduct long-term monitoring programs aimed at identifying trajectories in coral reefs. Some of the projects include the following: ■ local reef monitoring in collaboration with county, state, and federal agencies, including the Southeast Coral Reef Evaluation and Monitoring Project (SECREMP) ■ models useful for the prediction of effects of global climate change ■ monitoring of reefs in states and territories with state and federal partners ■ global monitoring and assessment network with international partners including the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), The Khaled bin Sultan Living Oceans Foundation (KSLOF), and the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) ■ monitoring software tools CPCe and Xads ■ recommendations to management ■ data-integration for ecological forecasting of different-scale data types, such as remote-sensing data and individual-level population data ■ coral spawning prediction Coral Reef Monitoring 11
