Residents will have rotations in implant reconstruction, craniofacial/cleft lip/palate surgery, and facial plastics. It is expected that all residents have abstracts or posters based upon their research efforts for presentation at a national meeting and at the NSU-CDM research day. Upon completion of the residency program, graduates will receive a certificate of training in oral and maxillofacial surgery. It is expected that all graduates will be prepared for the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery examination and possess clinical aptitude in the full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery. SUMMER II—OMFS PG 1 CDM 5005—Introduction to Postdoctoral Education First-year, postdoctoral residents will be required to attend orientation courses involving various aspects of NSU-CDM. Orientation courses include, but are not limited to, OSHA guidelines, database access and search, QRS computer training, opportunities in research, and case documentation. (5 credits) CDM 9010—Postgraduate Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Clinic I The clinical residency requirements include a hospital-based training program in the Miami and Fort Lauderdale areas. Residents are trained in hospital and operating room protocol and gain experience in OMFS practice. (9 credits) SUMMER II—OMFS PG 2 CDM 9030—Postgraduate Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Clinic III The clinical residency requirements include a hospital-based training program in the Miami and Fort Lauderdale areas.
