Students also will be able to distinguish the types of inquiries and research questions that are best suited for qualitative studies. Students will become familiar with generic research designs (e.g., case study) and in-depth designs (e.g., phenomenological). The session’s primary aim is for students to gain an understanding of data generation, data collection, data preparation, and data analysis for qualitative studies. Topics covered in this workshop include sampling procedures, ways to validate the instruments, and how to describe study procedures and limitations. A brief review of the methods sections of peer-reviewed journal articles will be provided.
