Copies will be delivered to the program director/chair. All decisions of the Appeals Board will be final and binding. No further option for appeal will be considered. If the chair of the Appeals Board is unavailable, the chair’s responsibilities will be assumed by a member of the Appeals Board, subject to approval by the dean. Related Educational Programs All policies in the handbook apply to students participating in related educational programs. D.M.D./M.B.A. Program A Doctor of Dental Medicine (D.M.D.)/Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) dual degree is available to students who are in good academic standing and have completed the first semester of their first year in the predoctoral program. The H. Wayne Huizenga School of Business and Entrepreneurship administers the M.B.A. degree. Students may contact the Huizenga School program representative for details about this program. Final decisions regarding a predoctoral student’s participation in this dual-degree program are at the dean’s discretion. D.M.D./M.S. in Health Law Program Students in good academic standing matriculated at the CDM may, with the permission of the dean, apply for admission to the Nova Southeastern University Shepard Broad Law Center for the 30-credit M.S. in Health Law program. This program, which is available to students who have completed their first year in the predoctoral program, is designed to prepare future dentists to identify legal issues within their health professional responsibilities. The program will provide students with in-depth knowledge of the laws and regulations governing dental care and health professional practice. Students who complete the D.M.D./M.S. in Health Law dual degree will also be uniquely qualified for leadership positions in managed healthcare environments, as well as other organizations and programs that continue to evolve in the complex world of healthcare. D.M.D./M.P.H. Program An academic track leading to the Master of Public Health (M.P.H.) degree combines specialized knowledge in public health with the Doctor of Dental Medicine curriculum. This combined program, which will enhance students’ career prospects in government and private healthcare enterprises, will require 6 to 12 months of additional study beyond the four years needed for the D.M.D. degree. With the dean’s permission, predoctoral students may apply for this program upon successful completion of the first dental school year.
