C ombination Courses Referred to in Sections iii, iv, or v (Clinical Rotations, Orientation or One-time Sessions, Preclinical Laboratory Rotations) • Attendance to all assigned rotations, class sessions, laboratory sessions, and/or orientations is mandatory. • For courses graded numerically (i.e., from 0–100), one unexcused absence to any of the sessions in the course schedule, of any type, will result in a failing course grade of F, with a maximum grade of C(E) if the student passes the failed course after successful remediation. The remediation assignment will be determined by the course director. • For courses graded on a Pass/Fail or letter grade basis, one unexcused absence to any of the sessions in the course schedule, of any type, will result in a failing course grade of F, with a maximum grade of RP or C(E) respectively, if the student passes the failed course after successful remediation. The remediation assignment will be determined by the course director. 6. Classroom Behavior Talking during lecture to those nearby is disturbing to others. The use of computers, telephones, or other electronic equipment for noneducational purposes during lectures is considered unprofessional conduct and is disruptive to the learning environment. The instructor may dismiss anyone from any class who is involved in disruptive behavior, and will result in an unexcused absence. Students in violation of this policy may also be subject to disciplinary action, up to, and including, dismissal. 7. Dress Code Students must maintain a neat, clean appearance befitting students attending professional school. Therefore, attire should convey a professional appearance whenever the student is on the main campus, or at any off-campus site for any school-related activity. In addition, the dress code incorporates policies related to infection control and safety in a clinical and/or laboratory environment. The dress code is to be maintained at all times. Those failing to comply may be dismissed from the campus, clinic site, or activity resulting in an unexcused absence for the day. All relevant policies related to unexcused absences will apply. Questionable or disputed cases of dress or grooming shall be presented to the assistant dean of Admissions, Student Affairs and Services, whose decision shall be final. Repeated violations will be considered improper professional behavior and may result in disciplinary action. For all students, a white clinic jacket and university-issued identification badge should be worn at all times for university and program events when scrubs are not appropriate. For all Predoctoral Dental Students • Each entering predoctoral dental class is assigned a specific colored-matched scrub set by the dean of the CDM. Students are required to have their name and other information embroidered on these scrub sets, as instructed by the CDM Office of Student Services. Students are required to wear their designated scrub sets whenever they are on campus for educational purposes (i.e., when they attend didactic courses, laboratory courses, and/or clinics), or at any off-campus
