Conditions include TBI, stroke, tumors, seizures, anoxic events (e.g. near drowning), encephalitis, meningitis, multiple sclerosis, spinal cord injuries, and orthopedic injuries. Because JMH is the only Level 1 trauma center in the area, our patients have a wide variety of conditions with varying levels of severity. The population includes county indigent patients, insurance covered patients, and self-pay patients from other countries that come to JMH for our rehab services. Cultural diversity is also extensive, including patients who are Hispanic, Haitian, Caribbean, African American, South American, and Caucasian. The Pedi Neuropsychology Service provides a wide range of services for both inpatients and outpatients; however, practicum students will primarily provide outpatient services. Treatment includes comprehensive outpatient neuropsychological and psychoeducational evaluations, outpatient initial assessments, neuropsychological screening of inpatients, some patient and family education, and cognitive retraining. ✔ 20 hours - 2.5 days Drug Screening costs between $35-50. Additional on-boarding requirements: - School clearance letter -Up-to-date BLS Healthcare provider card -Up-to-date immunizations -TB/PPD skin test (within last year) -Level 2 screening (within last 5 years). Will cost between $70-90 if a new one is needed. Mandatory Training Sessions: None Required Training Prerequisites: Some experience with neuropsychological test instruments with children/adolescents Attendance at specific meetings: Group supervision: Fridays 10:30 to 12:00 noon. Brain Cutting: Wednesdays 9:00 to 10:00AM (optional). Other requirements: Foreign language skills strongly preferred. Supervision Requirements (e.g., individual, group, time, day): One supervisor will provide 1.5 hours/week in group format, with additional testing supervision as needed.
