Articles of clothing that will be visible at the neck and below the gown should be in keeping with the conservative style of the academic attire. With that in mind, please do not wear tennis shoes/sneakers. Also, stiletto heels should be avoided as they can pose a personal safety risk when walking up and down steep stairs and standing for long periods of time. For master’s and specialist degree candidates, the hood should be secured so that it will not slip off the shoulders. The cap, which may need bobby pins to stay on your head, is worn parallel to the ground. HONOR CORDS Honor cords are distributed for outstanding performance and accomplishments through your program office prior to commencement day. Make arrangements beforehand as arena staff will not have cords available for distribution on that day. PHOTOGRAPHY Personal photographs may be taken only before and after the ceremony.
