Academic Services Administration/Faculty Office Hours The KPCOM administration endorses an open-door policy and encourages students to meet with the appropriate administrator, either by walk-in, if available, or by appointment. Faculty members will be available during office hours, as stated in the syllabi, by email, and/or by appointment. Department of Nutrition Office Any inquiries or concerns regarding the Department of Nutrition and its curriculum may be directed through the Department of Nutrition at the Mailman Segal Center for Human Development, Building 200, Room 2278, or via email to the student’s assigned academic adviser or the program director. Students must access the program web page ( osteopathic.nova.edu/ms-nutrition ) and the student’s NSU email regularly for current information on the program, including the schedule and announcements. Academic Advising The goal of the academic adviser is to provide students with assistance to enable them to work toward obtaining the most from their educational experiences. The role of the academic adviser is to • provide the student with guidance, direction, and encouragement • monitor the overall progress of the student • direct the student to appropriate college or university resources • assist in planning a schedule of coursework • assist the student in identifying research areas to pursue during his or her course of graduate study The program director supervises the assignment of academic advisers. Students wishing to switch to academic advisers during the academic year may do so by contacting the program office. The student- academic adviser relationship is essential in ensuring the professional development of the student. This relationship can contribute significantly to greater understanding of the science and practice of nutrition.
