Dr. Newman also participated
in the American Academy
of Osteopathy’s Leadership
Conference held September
28 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The
conference, held every three to
five years, was attended by 40
of the top leaders in the special-
ty college, who discussed the
organization’s future direction.

3 in Las Vegas, Nevada. In
addition, he was elected to
the American Osteopathic
Association’s Guardians of the
Profession honor roll.

Palm Beach County Medical
Society’s Future of Medicine
Summit at the Kravis Center in

as a reviewer for the

Health and Nutrition in Aging
and became an editorial board
member for the
Journal of Ge-
riatrics and Palliative Care
. She
also participated in a presenta-
tion entitled “An Interprofes-
sional Approach to Optimal
Care Transitions” at the
Florida Medical Directors As-
sociation meeting held October
19 in Orlando, Florida.

Cecilia Rokusek, Ed.D.,

, professor of family medi-
cine, public health, disaster
and emergency preparedness,
and assistant dean for educa-
tion, planning, and research,
made a presentation entitled
“Interprofessional Education
and Practice: Challenges, Op-
portunities, and Realities for
it in the European Union” at a
conference on interprofession-
al long-term care held Septem-
ber 27-October 2 in Budapest,
Hungary. The conference was
the first to bring together the
highest representatives of
both the Ministry of Health
and Social Affairs to discuss
long-term, cooperative care in
geriatrics and social services.
Dr. Rokusek also presented
a paper entitled “Interpro-
fessional Practice—Key to
Patient-Centered Care” at the
annual meeting of the Asso-
ciation for Behavioral Science
and Medical Education held
October 17-19 in Newport,
Rhode Island. In addition, she
presented a poster entitled
“Interprofessional Educa-
tion and Practice—Links to
the Patient Protection and
Affordability Health Care
Act” at the annual meeting
of the Geriatrics Society of
America held November 20-24
in New Orleans, Louisiana.
