Dialogues - CAHSS Winter 2018
3 NSU CAHSS Dialogues Greetings CAHSS Graduate SGA Family! What a joy and privilege it has been to serve as your CAHSS Graduate SGA president. This year, we had many changes within our executive board, but always remained focused on student- driven events, educational lectures, and creating a space for engagement. As scholars and leaders, we participated in Nova Southeastern University’s CommunityFest 2018. On Valentine’s Day, we handed out roses to students in classrooms. In March, we presented our annual Interdepartmental Symposium. The symposium was an academic dialogue to inspire scholars to share their papers on the topic of Putting Knowledge into Action: Responding to School Violence, organized by Tatiana Rivera, SGA vice president. After the school shooting in Parkland, our team joined efforts by attending the historic March for Our Lives rally in Washington, D.C., to raise awareness. Finally, we were nominated for the 20th annual Student Life Achievement Awards as Student Government of the Year, alongside other top SGA’s at NSU. Our diverse programs have created many opportunities for students across the nation and around the world to discover the multidisciplinary programs and activities that we have to offer. The CAHSS Graduate SGA is a catalyst for high-quality leadership programs and educational development opportunities. CAHSS Graduate SGA’s doors are always open! Edwina A.
