Dialogues - CAHSS Winter 2018

19 NSU CAHSS Dialogues Applications Due for CAHSS Graduate SGA Community Outreach Scholarship We are pleased to announce that the CAHSS Graduate SGA is currently accepting applications for the fall 2018 scholarship funds. This scholarship was established in 2005 to honor colleagues who are committed to giving back to the community. It is awarded to the CAHSS student whose community service is exemplary of, and committed to, Nova Southeastern University’s vision and the CAHSS motto of “walking the talk.” Outreach programs must incorporate theory and practice of CAHSS academic ideals/philosophies and add to the quality of life locally, nationally, or internationally. This scholarship is available to students enrolled in a graduate degree program (at least 6 credit hours a term), who are in good academic standing and have completed at least 9 credits in a CAHSS program. Applicants should submit a detailed letter explaining why they think they are good candidates for this scholarship and how they meet the criteria. Applications should be submitted to the CAHSS Graduate SGA faculty adviser, Elena Bastidas, Ph.D., at bastidas@nova.edu by Friday, June 8. On March 20, the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences honored its highest achieving undergraduate students at the annual Dean’s List Ceremony and Luncheon, which was held in Nova Southeastern University’s beautiful Carl DeSantis Atrium. In order to earn a spot on the prestigious Dean’s List, undergraduate students must earn a term grade point average of 3.8 or higher. The celebration was attended by approximately 100 students, faculty members, and guests. Dean Honggang Yang offered words of inspiration to the honorees, encouraging them to continue their strong academic performance. Edwina A. Ward, CAHSS Graduate SGA president, also provided an inspiring message, highlighting the benefits of pursuing an advanced degree. Each honoree was called by name to be personally congratulated by Yang and the department chairs. Each student received a letter of commendation, a certificate of achievement, and a Dean’s List pin that can be worn at graduation. Kudos to all the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences Dean’s List recipients. CAHSS Graduate SGA Endowed Scholarship for COMMUNITY OUTREACH CAHSS 2018 Dean’s List CEREMONY AND LUNCHEON
