15 NSU CAHSS Dialogues Department of Multidisciplinary Studies Judith McKay, J.D., Ph.D., in the Department of Multidisciplinary Studies (DMS) in the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences (CAHSS) provides training for law enforcement officers in Broward County who are becoming a part of the Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) in their respective agencies. McKay presented a training on crisis intervention at the Hollywood Police Department. Conflict Resolution doctoral student Chinyere Obinna accompanied McKay as an observer. Obinna has done practicum work with Community Resolution Service (CRS). CRS is a practicum and volunteer site for students interested in enhancing their skills in training, workshop development, and presentations by using narratives and storytelling to promote community dialogue and peace, facilitation, conflict coaching, and other projects. Other CRS events included participation at CommunityFest on February 10, and a workshop presentation about Interpersonal Communication Conflict that was held in collaboration with the Alvin Sherman Library in February. Two upcoming events include the Fourth Annual Story Café, where participants are invited to share stories related to themselves, society, and the topic of maintaining communities, and Tips for Peaceful Families in the summer.
