2017 UG Commencement Program

37 Alexandra Maria Ottochian , an entry-level nursing major, is from Wallingford, Connecticut, and has been in the Honors Program and in the Farquhar Honors College since 2013. She has been president of Upsilon Chi Chapter of the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society for Nursing since 2016 and a member of the Tau Sigma Honor Society since 2013. Ottochian has also been a member of Rho Gamma for Green Affairs since 2016. From 2013 to 2016, she was a member of the Phi Sigma Sorority–Theta Xi Chapter, where she served as member at large, scholarship chair, and intramural chair. Additionally, Ottochian participated in a practicum for the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit at Holy Cross Hospital. With more than 1,000 volunteer hospital hours, she remains engaged in her community. She has also participated in walks for multiple sclerosis since 2009, programs for breast cancer awareness from 2013 to 2016, and the School and College Readiness program from 2013 to 2016. Ottochian was a Chancellor’s List honoree from 2014 to 2016 and was on the Dean’s List from 2013 to 2016. She has certificates for hospice care, HIV/Aids education, smoking cessation education, and basic life support. She was a graduate of the Association of Perioperative Nurses’ Perioperative 101 Training Program in 2017. While a student, she also worked for the Office of Innovation and Technology in 2016, and campus recreation from 2014 to 2016. Ottochian works as a registered nurse at Yale New Haven Hospital. She plans to pursue a doctor in nurse practice with a specialty in cardiothoracic surgery. H. W ayne H uizenga C ollege of B usiness and E ntrepreneurship Christopher Patricio Salazar , a business administration major, is from Queens, New York. He has been on the Dean’s List for his last four semesters. He gives credit to his academic adviser, Raquel Fernandez, for her persistent guidance, support, and motivation during his time as an undergraduate student. He is actively involved in community service with the St. Bonaventure Church, and from 2005 to 2015, he worked for Best Buy as leadership council manager for the Orlando and New York markets. While working for Best Buy, he received the CEO Brand Anderson Award for demonstrating leadership in line with the company’s values. Since 2015, he worked for Coolpad Telecommunications as Southeast Market development manager. Salazar is pursuing his M.B.A. in International Business at NSU and hopes this will help him land a business development director position for a large company. He also plans to travel to England, France, and Germany to expose himself to different places, customs, and cultures, which will help build his academic knowledge of the international business industry.
