Healthcare Security Team

The Healthcare Security team is responsible for performing healthcare system audits to ensure the protection and safety of patient Electronic Health Records (EHR) and protect patient data from unauthorized access and or use.

  • Investigations: The Healthcare Security team is responsible for investigating any suspected violations and or breaches and works closely with the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) attorneys.  
  • FairWarning (Patient Monitoring System): The Healthcare Security Team manages FairWarning to proactively monitor and report on clinical application usage to ensure appropriate use and respond to issues.
  • NSU HIPAA Policy & Procedures: The Healthcare Security Team assists with the development and deployment of the HIPAA Security Policies & Procedures, including but not limited to defining, implementing and maintaining the HIPAA security policies standards and procedures.
  • HIPAA Security Risk Assessments (SRA): The Healthcare Security Team assists with yearly SRA for NSU and develop comprehensive reports of findings and follow-up on recommendations.
  • HIPAA Hotline: The Healthcare Security Team, monitors NSU’s HIPAA Hotline for reporting HIPAA Security related issues.
