About CPO® Certification

CPOCertified Pool/Spa Operator® (CPO®) certification courses are designed to provide individuals with the basic knowledge, techniques, and skills of pool and spa operations. The Certified Pool/Spa Operator® certification program has delivered more training than any other program in the pool and spa industry since 1972, resulting in more than 375,000 successful CPO® certifications in 93 countries. Many state and local health departments accept the CPO® certification program and is valid for 5 years upon successful completion of an open book examination. The NSU Aquatics Institute is proud to be an authorized provider of the CPO® certification program.

Certification is REQUIRED by the Florida Department of Health Chapter 64E-9.018 Florida Administrative Code. An individual who services a public pool by maintaining the cleanliness, water quality and chemical balance of public pools shall be certified.

All local health codes will be covered in this course.

NSU Aquatics operates and maintains 7 distinctively unique aquatic facilities in the Fort Lauderdale area including two resort style pools, a children’s splash fountain, an athletic training rehabilitation spa, a sea turtle recovery pool, and the largest Olympic pool by volume in south Florida (1.2 million gallons). These facilities serve as excellent instructional aids for CPO® certification students, combined with our instructor that has over 15 years of experience in the pool industry.
