When Discussion Boards are copied from course to course the threads from the previous course are also copied. To delete unwanted threads do the following:
Turn edit mode ON.
Go to your Discussion Board area.
Find a forum that has posts. Click on the name of the forum to open.
Click the top left checkbox to select all of the threads. (Optional: Uncheck any messages you would like to keep).
Click Delete to remove the student's posts.
Click OK to confirm.
