Canvas Deep Dive Is Coming

Canvas Deep Dive

 

Canvas Deep Dive trainings are intensive sessions about specific topics including quizzes, file management, assignments, grading and more. Each session lasts an hour and 15 minutes. It is recommended that you attend Canvas Basics Training before attending a Deep Dive session.

 
Canvas Deep Dive Topics
Canvas Deep Dive into Quizzes & Question Banks
This session will provide users with an exploration of the quiz tool in Canvas. Users will learn how to create a variety of quiz question types. Additionally, users will learn how to create question banks and create custom quiz settings such as setting a time limit, providing feedback, setting test exceptions and accessing Quiz Analytics.

Canvas Deep Dive into Modules & File Management
This session will provide users with the skills necessary to manage, move and edit modules.  Prerequisites and Requirements will be explained so that content can be unlocked based completion of content in a previous module. Users will also learn about the Files area of the course and how to organize their files and how their files can then be easily added into many different places within a course.

Canvas Deep Dive into Assignments & Discussions
This session will provide users with an exploration of the features and options that are available within Assignments and Discussions. During the session users will create and manage assignment groups, organize their assignments by adding them to modules where appropriate. Users will also become familiar with the settings available for assignments including, restricting submission types, requiring peer reviews and setting up accommodations for due dates. In Discussions, the session will provide information about Discussion settings such as availability and grading.

Canvas Deep Dive into Grading & Assessment
This session will provide users with an exploration if the Canvas gradebook features. Users will learn about the SpeedGrader and the various ways it can be used to provide timely and detailed feedback for students. The SpeedGrader tool provides a quick and easy way for instructors to grade individual and group assignments.

Canvas Open Lab - May 9th

The Innovation Zone is hosting a Canvas open lab for NSU faculty and staff. Stop by the open lab to ask your Canvas related questions, and work with the Canvas trainer and a member of the Canvas support team. There is no scheduled training agenda during this time, but you are encouraged to take this opportunity to prepare your course(s) for the upcoming term or spend some time learning how to navigate Canvas and its features. Coffee and cookies will be served.
