NSU Spring Break Global Engagement

   The Spring Break Global Engagement Program is open to ALL NSU STUDENTS! Each year the Office of International Affairs offers an international Global Engagement trip during Spring Break to enrich students cultural experience. 

The Spring Break 2022 Global Engagement program will be in Nepal!

 

EXPLORE MYAGDE, NEPAL

Visit local markets, hotspots, and historic monuments during your stay. 

INTERNATIONAL IMPACT

Engage within the local school by teaching classes to elementary students.

BUILD A SCHOOL LIBRARY  

Help construct a library for the local community and school.

This program is open to all NSU students.  

Application is 4 steps:

  • Information
  • Why you want to go on our trips
  • Medical history
  • Deposit (can pay later)

ExEL Travel Exploration Unit

There is no course credit for this program.  Students may receive one ExEL Travel Exploration Unit for their participation. 

General Itinerary (this itinerary changes based on how many days you are in the country.)

ALL DETAILS SUBJECT TO CHANGE

  • Day 1: Fly to country, Travel to village, get acquainted with the locals.

  • Day 2: Begin work on Library/Classes/home visits. These activities include: Painting, Organizing books, Teaching classes (Computer Skills, Reading Skills, Research Skills, Success Skills). Learn about the local culture in home visits and get excitement for the Library in the community.

  • Day 3: Continue working on Library/classes/home visits

  • Day 4: Continue working on Library/classes/home visits

  •  Day 5: Local Cultural Excursion

  •  Day 6: Finish Working on Library/Classes

  •  Day 7: Library Inauguration/Celebration

  •  Day 8: Cultural Excursion

  •  Day 9: Travel Back Home

Program Costs - $2,700

Price Breakdown

  • $1,500
    • Food and Housing (3 meals a day)
    • Travel inside the country
    • Excursions
    • Coordinators, guides, admin,
    • Travel insurance
  • $1,200
    • The rest is airfare.
    • If airfare is cheaper it will be shared with the volunteer who can give as a charitable contribution or will be reimbursed.
