Outlook Express 6 for Windows

POP Email Setup Instructions

  1. Open Outlook Express.
  2. Click on Tools and Accounts. You will see the following window:

  3. Click on Add and click on Mail. Enter your full name in the Display name field as shown below.

  4. Click on Next.
  5. Enter your NSU email address (emailname@nova.edu).

  6. Click on Next.
  7. If you are using NSU as your Internet Service Provider, enter the information as shown below. If you are using another ISP (AOL, MSN, BellSouth, etc.) you will enter pop.nova.edu as your incoming mail server. You will need to check with your ISP for your outgoing mail server name.

  8. Click on Next.
  9. Enter your NSU email name next to account name. Enter your password in the password field.

  10. Click on Next.

  11. Click on Finish.
  12. You will then see the window as shown below. Click on the account name (pop.nova.edu in this example) and click on Properties.

  13. Click on the Advanced tab at the top of the window. Put a check next to Leave a copy of messages on server. Put a check next to Remove from server after 5 day(s).

    ** It's recommended to leave a copy of the messages on the server for 5 days so you can retrieve them from another computer if necessary. If you do not leave a copy on the server, all messages will be downloaded to Outlook and you will only be able to access them from the computer you set Outlook up on.
  14. NSU's mail servers also allow for secure connections. To allow secure connections please check "This server requires a secure connection (SSL)" for both Incoming and Outgoing servers (If you are using an ISP other than NSU, please confirm with them if they offer secure connections).
