The data below summarizes the number of trainings the South Florida Geriatric Workforce Enhancement Program (GWEP) has done split into six categories.
The GWEP along with South Florida Institute on Aging (SoFIA) are working to provide telehealth education to vulnerable underserved older adults living in the community. Education will be facilitated through SoFIA’s volunteer caregivers who will virtually meet with the older adults in the communities and provide telehealth education developed through GWEP faculty and community partners. This project will help engage older adults through the virtual world.
The GWEP is also participating in making wellness calls to vulnerable older adults identified through NSU clinics in the community. The wellness calls discuss issues of isolation, social support, hygiene, access to telehealth and community resources.
This project is supported by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) as part of an award totaling $2.1M with 25% financed with nongovernmental sources.
