The Department of Recruitment and Admissions at NSU handles all aspects of graduate recruitment and admissions for the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences, the College of Psychology, and the Mailman Segal Center for Human Development. The department regularly hosts open houses, webinars, and other events. See below for information on our staff, and please contact us with your questions.
The department works with three academic units covering a diverse selection of subject areas.

Marcia Arango is an Assistant Director for Graduate Admissions who works with applicants to the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences. She has worked at Nova Southeastern University since 2002.

Paula Boros is an Assistant Director of Graduate Admissions for the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences, the College of Psychology, and the Mailman Segal Center for Human Development. Her responsibilities include outreach for the Brief Therapy Institute-Family clinics, the Psychological Service Center clinics, and Mailman Segal Center clinics along with outreach to on and off campus events. Her previous positions include working as a Graduate Assistant (GA) for NSU’s Recruitment and Admissions team. Before attending NSU as a student, Boros served in the U.S. Army. While serving, she earned a bachelor’s degree in Psychology. After serving, she completed her master’s in Family Therapy. Boros is currently enrolled in the Ph.D. Family Therapy program working on her dissertation.

Debbie Esko Gold serves as the Assistant Director of Marketing working in support of NSU’s graduate programs in the College of Psychology (COP), the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences (CAHSS), and the Mailman Segal Center for Human Development (MSC).
Her responsibilities include development and execution of marketing strategies, primarily with MSC. In addition, she is involved with community outreach and brand recognition. Prior to joining NSU, Gold worked in business consulting, strategic planning and finance. She has previously worked in the Film & Industry Office at the Miami Film Festival and has produced two short films. Gold earned a bachelor’s degree in Business with a concentration in Finance from the University of Florida. She currently serves as a board member on the Friends of New World Symphony.

Christopher Guanche is a Web/Digital Media Specialist working in support of NSU's College of Psychology, the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences (CAHSS), and the Mailman Segal Center for Human Development. His responsibilities include writing marketing materials and managing website updates and social media channels. Prior to joining NSU, Guanche worked as a reporter and assistant editor for several publications under the umbrella of the South Florida Sun Sentinel's Forum Publishing Group. He also worked as a freelance writer at the Miami Herald, covering several communities in Miami-Dade County. Guanche earned a bachelor's degree in Communication with a concentration in print journalism as well as a paralegal certificate from Florida International University. He is currently pursuing a master's degree in Conflict Analysis and Resolution at CAHSS.

Jessica Hubbell is an Assistant Director of Graduate Admissions for NSU's College of Psychology, the College of Arts, Humanities, and the Mailman Segal Center for Human Development. Her responsibilities include assisting potential and enrolling students into the many programs offered within the colleges she works for. She previously worked for Keiser University as an Admissions Counselor helping students with potential degree programs they were seeking, as well as assisting through the enrollment process. While working for Keiser University, she completed her Masters in Organizational Psychology.

Sherene Kalam was born in Guyana, South America. She moved to the United States and lived in New York for more than 20 years. During that time, she worked in the insurance, banking and consulting industry in New York City. Her last position in New York was with Ernst and Young, where she supported partners in the development of healthcare consulting and proposals. Kalam has worked for Nova Southeastern University (NSU) for more than 23 years, most of which has been at the College of Psychology. She is currently Assistant Director of Admissions. She has earned her B.S., M.B.A. and Ed.D. degrees over the course of those 23 years from NSU.

Anthony Noriega serves as the Associate Director for Graduate Admissions. His responsibilities include the assistance with the development and execution of marketing and recruitment strategies for the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences and the College of Psychology; he also assists with the marketing efforts for the Mailman Segal Center for Human Development.
Noriega has experience working in several areas of, not only recruitment and admissions, but student affairs as well. Prior to his arrival to South Florida, he worked at St. Mary’s University, San Antonio, Texas, serving in several different areas of student affairs, which include: Residence Life, Conference Services, Student Activities and Transition Programs, and New Student Orientation. The enjoyment and pride working in higher education encouraged him to begin working in Recruitment and Admissions. He worked at St. Thomas University (Miami Gardens, FL) where he served as Associate Director of Admissions, thus allowing him to work closely with administrators, faculty, and students to execute the recruitment and marketing initiatives for undergraduate and graduate recruitment.
Noriega has worked closely with young adults in advising and mentoring roles. He looks to continue his education and his professional career working in higher education.

Carlos Perez, Ed.D., has served in an outreach capacity at Nova Southeastern University for over a decade. In addition to serving in a public relations and promotions role, Dr. Perez teaches in the Doctor of Education Human Services Concentration. He is proud to support graduate education, psychology and social sciences graduate programs including community clinics and alumni initiatives. Research areas and academic interests include multiple intelligences, student services, organizational leadership, and arts.Previously, Dr. Perez worked as the director of student life at the University of Michigan-Flint and served community health/education organizations as a founding partner in Cenergy Productions, Miami. Much of his work included developing educational awareness campaigns and fundraising activity to aid youth and disadvantaged populations.

Gregory Gayle, Ed.S., serves as the Director of Admissions and Recruitment. His responsibilities include the marketing, recruitment, and admissions for graduate programs in the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences and the College of Psychology. He also provides marketing services to the Mailman Segal Center for Human Development. As director, he works with prospective students, faculty, and academic departments.
Over the past 25 years, Gayle has worked with educators, administrators, parents, and students in the areas of college marketing, recruitment, admissions, and retention. He has been responsible for the recruitment and admission of both domestic and international students, allowing him the opportunity to travel throughout the United States, Canada, and Asia. Gayle has been employed both in the public and private sectors, counting Canisius College, Arkansas State University, Florida Atlantic University, and LeadAmerica as former employers.
Gayle earned a dual bachelor’s degree in History and Communications and a master’s degree in College Student Personnel Administration from Canisius College (Buffalo, NY). He also earned an Educational Specialist degree in Community College Administration from Arkansas State University (Jonesboro, AR). Having been ABD at Arkansas State University, he is currently enrolled in the Educational Leadership doctoral program at Florida Atlantic University.
