Coping with Stress

Whether you or our family has been touch by the COVID-19 virus or not, you may be feeling stressed or anxious by what is happening across our community, the nation and the world.

The good news is – you are not alone. Many of us are dealing with various emotions related to COVID-19, the continuous news coverage and messaging coming at us from all sides. There are resources available to the NSU community that can help.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration has posted informational tips on how to cope with stress during infectious disease outbreaks. You can access that information online.

Additionally, you can find information on managing stress and anxiety on the CDC site here.

Employee Assistance Program (staff and faculty)

The EAP: Aetna’s Resources for Living is a confidential, free resource staffed 24/7 by professional counselors who can provide direct support and referral to other support services to help you deal with problems that seem overwhelming.

The EAP is available to all NSU employees and every member of their household and includes up to six face-to-face counseling sessions per issue per plan year. Note: All NSU employees may access this service – you do NOT need to be enrolled in the NSU ICUBA insurance plan to use this benefit.

You may access services by phone at 877-398-5816 (press option 1 for EAP services).

Give live chat a try between 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. ET Monday through Friday.
