Tamara is a Graduate Assistant for Special Events and Projects in the Office of Campus Life and Student Engagement. She is responsible for Weekend Programming, Take Back the Night and co-chair for the STUEYs. With over 5 years of event experience and a passion for working with students, she is excited to execute diverse and creative events for the NSU student body.
Originally from Trinidad and Tobago, at the age 14 she moved to Houston, TX where she attended both high school and college. She received her Bachelor’s degree from Sam Houston State University in Family & Consumer Science with an emphasis in Event Planning and Management. In August 2016, she moved to Florida to be closer to family and to pursue her Master’s degree in College Student Affairs at Nova Southeastern University.
During her undergraduate experience, she worked for the student university event planning board for 3 years, recreational sports for 2 years, and was an orientation leader for a year. She also served as the president for both Caribbean Student Organization and the Theta Epsilon Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Simultaneously, she was an intern for En Vogue Events prior to graduating and worked in her field at a Texas Winery as a Wedding and Event Planner for 2 years.
Tamara loves to travel, sing and dance and is very involved in her Caribbean culture. She enjoys going to the beach, watching movies, and spending quality time with friends and family.
