2021 Homecoming and Alumni Week 

NSU alumni - get ready for a fun-filled week of virtual and in-person homecoming festivities! 

22HC-tshirt.pngThis year, we are proud to partner with the Special Olympics Broward County and the NSU Art Museum Fort Lauderdale to kick off the homecoming fun with complimentary in-person events for the whole family. Then, get ready to put your fins together for events and contests specially curated for alumni with the option to join virtually, in-person, or at participating regional campuses. Show off how you #BleedSharkBlue by entering our social media contest, tour the beautiful Oceanographic Center that showcases stellar views of Florida's coastlines, write a letter to support our troops in honor of Veteran's Day, and more!

Saturday, November 6 – Saturday, November 13, 2021
Bleed Shark Blue Social Media Challenge 

Calling all Sharks!  It’s time to dust off your fins and show us how you #BleedSharkBlue!  NSU Sharks know no boundaries, so this Homecoming & Alumni Week we invite you to flood Instagram with photos and videos of how you #BleedSharkBlue, even if you are oceans away!

The top three Sharks in EACH CATEGORY (1. Alumni 2. Students 3. Faculty/Staff) with the most likes will receive gift cards to the NSU Bookstore (valid online as well).

Here’s how to participate:

  1. Complete the registration link here.
  2. Follow @nsualumni on Instagram
  3. Upload your most creative content to Instagram and use the hashtag #BleedSharkBlue. Make sure to tag @NSUalumni 
  4. The Instagram post/reel with the most likes at the end of the week wins!

The top three posts with the most likes in each category (alumni, students, faculty/staff) will receive gift cards to celebrate their Shark spirit!

  • First Place: $100
  • Second Place: $50
  • Third Place: $25

Note: Contests begins 12:01 a.m. on Saturday, November 6th through 11:59 p.m. on Saturday, November 13th.  The posts with the most "likes" win!

Special Olympics 16th Annual Sallarulo's Race for Champions 5K Run/Walk
Saturday, November 6 | 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Get out your running – or walking – shoes and sign up for the 16th Annual Sallarulo’s Race for Champions to be held here on our campus on Saturday, November 6. Runners and walkers from all over South Florida will come to campus to participate in this 5K race to benefit Special Olympics Florida – Broward County.

Registration starts at 6:30 a.m. and the run starts at 8:00 a.m. in the circle on Abe Fischler Blvd. ALL alumni, faculty, staff, and students who sign up to run or walk with the NSU team, will have the $30 per person fee WAIVED. Use code NSU2021 during registration. All registered participants will receive a free T-shirt and medal. You can also choose to start your own fundraising page to help support Special Olympics. 

Following the race, an awards ceremony will be held at 9:00 a.m. Special Olympics Florida – Broward County’s athletes, their families and all race participants are invited to stay and celebrate at the Carnival of Champions featuring breakfast and lunch, surprise celebrity guests, refreshments, and entertainment.

NSU Art Museum Fort Lauderdale - Alumni Day 

The NSU Art Museum Fort Lauderdale is hosting its first Alumni Day on Sunday, November 7! Alumni get FREE admission and can bring up to four family members to enjoy a day of exhibits and activities.

Alumni will also get BOGO wine at the Museum Cafe and receive a 20 percent discount at the Museum Store when joining the Museum as a member on Alumni Day and a 10 percent discount at the Museum Store all through the year. Explore the Museum Store to discover our unique gifts and merchandise before the big day!

Distinguished Alumni Virtual Executive Breakfast 

An exclusive, invite-only event: Nova Southeastern University salutes outstanding graduates at the yearly Distinguished Alumni Achievement Awards (DAA) ceremony, the highest and most prestigious honor that NSU bestows upon its graduates.

An exclusive, invite-only event for alumni supporters who also showcase their talents as faculty/staff at NSU. This annual tradition is our way of recognizing this special group of Sharks.

Grab a paintbrush and cocktail! Join your fellow FCESCJ alumni as we dive in for a night of participatory art and fun, as you are guided through the creation of a stunning painting worthy of being hung in the NSU Art Museum by our very own talented NSU student and Shark Cage business owner, Mikalea Whitmer!

Pre-registration is required and has limited capacity. Early registration is strongly recommended as supplies will be provided.

NSU Alumni Tours at the Oceanographic Campus and Guy Harvey Research Center

The Guy Harvey Oceanographic Research Center sits on a 10-acre campus that is home to cutting-edge research in the marine and environmental sciences.  Located only 12 miles from the Main Campus and nestled at the end of Von D. Mizell and Eula Johnson State Park, the Oceanographic Center is located directly on the entrance channel of Port Everglades and within 100 yards of the open Atlantic Ocean. Be sure to share photos of your experience on social media and tag @nsualumni!

Veterans Day Letter Writing
Thursday, November 11, 2021 | 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Event is open to all alumni, faculty, staff and students! Letters will be be placed in care packages to our nation's troops in partnership with Operation Gratitude.

Davie Campus: Join us and NSU’s Veteran faculty and staff in writing letters for our troops serving our country. Come prepared to write a message from the heart for our servicemen and women, and to meet NSU leadership who have also served in the armed forces.
