The NSU community has adapted to the “new normal” in the past few months. While the COVID-19 pandemic has created an unparalleled time for everyone, the spirit and resiliency shown by NSU students, alumni, faculty, and staff are inspiring. Despite being socially distanced, we are truly ALL IN this together.

In light of the global pandemic, NSU will participate in #GivingTuesdayNow, a global day of unity and support in response to the unprecedented need caused by COVID-19.

On May 5, 2020, NSU is asking members of the community to come together to support NSU students, programs, and initiatives.

FAQ

NSU will participate in #GivingTuesdayNow in conjunction with All In For NSU.

All In For NSU is celebrated annually to raise monetary support for the ongoing resources that are crucial to the growth and success of NSU as a world-class institution. Due to the emergency of COVID-19, originally planned events were postponed.

#GivingTuesdayNow is a new global day of giving and unity that will take place on May 5, 2020, in response COVID-19 on a worldwide level. This is part of a new global response established by a wave of generosity, citizen engagement, and philanthropy around the world.

A global threat like COVID-19 touches every person on the planet, and it presents an opportunity to come together as a global community. We believe that generosity has the power to unite and heal communities in good times and bad.

Dr. George Hanbury II, President and CEO of NSU, launched the COVID-19 Student Support Fund in response to student concerns about sudden unemployment, food insecurities, basic housing costs, and other emergency-related expenses.

In order to help these students move forward without jeopardizing their future, we are asking for help in raising funds that will be used, 100%, for student relief.

Funds will be distributed to approved NSU students and are flexible to accommodate the wide and varied needs of our students during this ever-evolving crisis. These emergency funds can be used for a wide variety of needs, including but not limited to:

  • Food insecurity
  • Medical bills
  • Rent and living expenses
  • Technology (laptop, internet access, etc.) to optimize distance learning
  • Transportation to their home
  • Tuition assistance due to depleted financial aid

Currently enrolled, degree-seeking students at NSU must complete an application and meet the criteria that demonstrates a need for financial assistance during this pandemic. Note that students who are benefit-eligible NSU employees do not qualify.

You can choose the specific area of interest in the dropdown menu on the giving page. Options include NSU colleges, programs, organizations, and more. Several colleges have established their own COVID-19 designations for students in need.

If you are not able to find the area you would like to support, please enter the area you would like to give to in the text box below the designation dropdown menu. We will ensure your gift is designated appropriately and will be counted toward this special #GivingTuesdayNow Initiative.

Your gift will not count toward this year's giving day totals, but it is your impact that matters most anyway -- and you will be making a big one.

NSU faculty and staff gifts made via payroll deduction will be included in the final, validated All-In totals if the donor indicates their gift is for All In For NSU, otherwise known this year as #GivingTuedayNow. Checks are also acceptable (addressed to Nova Southeastern University) and should indicate "All In For NSU" in the memo. We ask that you notify annualfund@nova.edu if submitting a check, so it can be counted during the giving period.
