The Nova Southeastern University Admissions Ambassadors are current undergraduate students who provide an insider's perspective of life as an NSU Shark.

Admissions Ambassadors

Adam Hillyard is an Exercise and Sports Science major here at NSU and will be a junior in the fall and made NSU his home from Lakeville, Minnesota. Adam is currently involved in Phi Gamma Delta, MedLife and FitWell. When Adam isn’t hitting the books, he’s pumping iron at the RecPlex. He is wanting to help students be less nervous when they arrive on campus and see the potential they have at NSU.

Alissa Svedberg is a rising senior for fall 2016 and is a Marine Biology major with a theatre minor. She comes from Middleton, WI and brought her small town charm with her to NSU where she became involved in a number of different organizations such as the Scientific Literature Society, Performing and Visual Arts productions, Residential Student Association, Sigma Delta Tau. She is also a research assistant in organic chemistry where she has learned to derive new compounds at NSU!

Brianna Reeves has been in love with NSU since 3rd grade, and is now a sophomore here! Besides being an elementary education major, she is minoring in leadership and Spanish. She is involved in Razor’s Edge, a proud member of President’s 64 and is the President of the American Association of University Women. Shark pride is written all over her face whenever she talks about NSU and what the school can provide to anyone!

Casey Skomer has been on the ambassador team for two full years, and will be a junior this coming fall. Casey came from Toledo, Ohio. While she is a Criminal Justice major and psychology minor, she is involved in The Riff Tides, Theta Phi Alpha, and Finatics just to name a few organizations. Her outgoing, positive personality is always noticed by the prospective students and families that come on tour!

Jake Bence will be junior next academic year. Jake came to NSU from Tampa, FL. He has gotten involved in Razor’s Edge and MAKO Rangers with his Chemistry major and Mathematics minor. Jake strives for perfection when getting to know families on tour, or whether in the office connecting with students after they’ve left.

Juan Duran is originally from Columbia and now calls NSU his home. He is a rising senior who just finished the Disney College Program up in Orlando. At NSU his Management and Marketing major have influenced him to serve on campus in various leadership roles such as an RA, president of Kappa Sigma and on the e-board of SGA. Juan can’t wait to show spread his love of NSU to all prospective students who visit campus.

Julia Kolowski comes from Cheshire, Connecticut and will be a junior this fall with senior credits. She is a Dual-Admit Pre-Dental student meaning she’s majoring in Biology. Aside from studying, Julia is involved in Best Buddies, Pre-Dental Society and NSU Disaster Medicine. She consistently works hard in and out of the office to connect with students, especially assisting with Shark Preview.

Katlyn Magnotta will be junior come fall 2016 and came from Mountain Top, Pennsylvania. She is a dual admissions student for Physical Therapy, so with that she is majoring in biology and minoring in business. She is involved in Razor’s Edge, Campus Cursive and Sigma Delta Tau where she is currently President. She has a bubbly personality that will make all prospective guests feel right at home.

Matt Lohwater is a rising junior biology major, currently working on research with a specific focus on dentistry. Besides being academic, Matt is involved in Mako Rangers, Razor’s Edge, Phi Gamma Delta and Pre-Dental Society. Matt is wanting others to fall in love with NSU just as he did when he first stepped foot on campus when he visited from Rochester, New York.

Parker Sheppard is from Mansfield, Texas and will be a junior in the 2016-2017 Academic year. Currently he is a part of Razor’s Edge and MAKO Rangers. Parker is an Exercise and Sport Science major with minors in Business and Chemistry also with a certificate in Leadership setting his sights on becoming a Dentist. Parker takes great joy in welcoming and getting to know families and students that come on tour.
