More than 30 years ago, the founders of the university had a vision - create an institution that would represent a great hope for higher education in Florida and the nation. Today, Nova Southeastern University is the 7th largest independent institution in the United States and the largest independent institution of learning in the Southeast. We deliver the highest-quality academic programs to students on our campus, across the nation, and around the world. However, if NSU is to achieve at a higher level, we must raise the quality of our facilities to the level of our superb academic programs.
It is with great pleasure that I announce the campaign for University Center. This 300,000-square-foot, multiuse facility will be the inspirational centerpiece of a world-class university. It will redefine the university's relationship with its students, faculty members, administration, and the South Florida community.
The University Center will represent a convergence of mind, body, and spirit for the entire NSU family. For the students, the center will combine NCAA Division II athletics, intramural athletics, and student wellness, and will be a place for formal and informal social gatherings. For the faculty and staff members, it will be a place to teach and learn and a venue to support personal wellness, nutrition, sports medicine, and fitness. For the South Florida community, it will be a venue for sports events, concerts, the arts, and major conferences, as well as a focal point for summer camp and other programs.
This magnificent structure and the special programs it houses are part of the university's strategy to provide South Florida with access to knowledge, spectator and recreational sports, performing arts, and personal and professional relationships. It will be at the center of our campus, and at the center of Broward County and the tri-county area. The University Center will truly bring benefits to all.
We hope that you will join us as we make the University Center a reality, an integral part of the heart and soul of South Florida.
Sincerely,
Ray Ferrero, Jr.
