Interfraternity Council (IFC)
Recruitment, or "Rush" as it is informally called, is the word that describes the process of recruiting new membership in the men's fraternities.
IFC recruitment involves the individual rush weeks which are open to all interested college males. Be sure to go to as many different events as you can to make sure that your comfortable with that fraternity.
National Panhellenic Council (NPC)
Formal recruitment is the primary way the three Panhellenic sororities acquire new members. Formal recruitment will take place during the second week of classes.
This period consists of Potential New Member Orientation and four rounds of events that allow potential new members the opportunity to learn about each sorority at NSU as well as what it means to be a member of the Panhellenic and NSU Greek communities. Several chapters also recruit after the formal recruitment period during a period called COB or informal recruitment. The process during informal recruitment varies from chapter to chapter.
Multicultural Greek Council (MGC)
Membership Intake is the process of joining a MGC or NPHC organization, and the process differs for each group. Intake may include interviews, group activities, and study of group values/traditions, with the involvement of both undergraduates and advisors. MGC organizations traditionally have membership intake once a year at various times (either Fall or Spring).
Prior to participation in the membership intake process, MGC organizations usually advertise info sessions for prospective members. These info sessions afford prospective members the opportunity to learn more about the organization, including their specific requirements for membership.
