At the NSU Student Educational Center (SEC), Student Affairs works to foster student success. We do this more specifically by supporting the student and student networks. Student Affairs is always working to ensure students have great programming and services available which are interesting and educational, as well as programming that is inclusive and family-friendly.
General Information
The educational site is located in the Kendall Village Plaza, off of 124th Avenue. Your Coordinator of Student Affairs is Elizabeth Rodriguez and the office of Student Affairs is located in Room 221.
The Student Affairs Coordinator at the Miami SEC serves as a liaison to student services offered through the main campus in Fort Lauderdale, as well as coordinate events and activities to provide a general atmosphere of community for the students, faculty, and staff at the SEC.
Your Coordinator can assist you with information concerning Career Development, Tutoring Services, Disability Services, Library Training, and much more.
The Office of Student Affairs is open in the evenings and on Saturdays to be available for students. Student Affairs also keeps a student lounge available to students with comfortable seating, study areas, and other amenities to give students a place to unwind, gather or study.

Student Programming Grants
The Office of Student Engagement promotes program development by providing funding assistance for student sponsored activities that are consistent with the University’s educational mission and the Division of Student Affairs. Student programming, as defined by the Office of Student Engagement, is an event that is developed and implemented by students and is educational, cultural, and/or contributes to the development of students and the campus community. The SEC Student Programming Grant supports the educational value of student-driven programming at the SECs by assisting students in completing all the necessary steps to effectively implement a successful event. Community Service
Each of NSU’s off campus sites offer students an exceptional college experience. The Office of Student Affairs plays a large role in this success through student interactions and involvement. We encourage all students to get involved with in NSU and in the community. The Miami SEC has been involved in the community in multiple capacities. Our charitable works extend, but are not limited to:

NSU Gear & Merchandise
Show your Shark spirit by wearing NSU merchandise! NSU gear and merchandise can be found in Room 221 during office hours. Be sure to check the event calendar for special sale dates! Choose from NSU hats, polo’s, T-shirts, sweatshirts, license plate covers, mugs, bags, and umbrellas.
SGA Members
Elected officers promote cooperation and communication among NSU students by encouraging unity through the advancement of academic and social life. Their focus is to establish a more dynamic and diverse campus as the liaison between students and administration. Elections are held once a year but positions may be available at any time. Off-Campus Housing Information
Services such as Off-Campus Housing and apartment locators have been established by Nova Southeastern University to provide incoming students, faculty, and staff at the Student Educational Centers with resources to assist in establishing rental options near your desired NSU site location.
Tutoring Services
The Office of Academic Services provides free, individualized tutoring services. Students may request tutoring assistance with all steps of the writing process, including brainstorming, organizing, researching and revising. In addition, tutoring is available for all undergraduate math courses. Tutoring is offered in 45-minute sessions. Also available is a wealth of writing resource materials and a complete library of course-specific instructional math DVDs, which can be checked out for home use.
Tutoring is offered at the Student Educational Centers in Jacksonville, Miami (Kendall), Orlando, Tampa, and online. To make an appointment with a math or writing consultant, contact your local office at the following numbers:

Kudos Board
Each Student Educational Center has a “Kudos” Board to recognize students for their achievements. Each month, new students will be recognized on the Kudos Board. Students can nominate themselves for recognition. Students can also be nominated by other students, staff members, and faculty at the SEC. Students will also be recognized by the Student Affairs Coordinator and Student Government Association for their participation and involvement with special events and competitions.
